Foundations

January 19th, 26th and February 2nd

7 PM ET – 8:30 PM ET

When it comes to racial bridge-building for white people, Be the Bridge places a lot of the focus on listening to and learning from Black, Indigenous, Asian and Latinx communities.

While listening and engaging with people of color is important, there is a lot of work to be done to “catch up” on our racial understanding. We cannot place the burden on BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) by expecting them to teach a basic level of information we can learn through our own reading, research, and self-reflection.

This course, Foundations: An Introduction to Bridge-Building for White People, gives you a way to do that preliminary and necessary work. It is created for white people, by white people. Foundations should be used as a “first step” before finding ways to find and/or deepen cross-racial engagement, such as through the Be the Bridge’s Building Bridges guide intended for cross-racial groups.

BIPOC: We Need to Talk

January 19th, 26th and February 2nd

7 PM ET – 8:30 PM ET

Our discussion guide We Need to Talk: A BIPOC Guide to Healing Ourselves was created by people of color, for people of color to engage in transformative and healing conversations. Throughout its six sessions, “We Need to Talk” covers everything from internalized racism and colorism to classism and interracial prejudice.

With a practical plan for self-care, this discussion guide offers a starting place for some of the essential conversations we must have with each other so that we can unpack the ways that we have also harmed one another under the force of the white supremacy.
